| A trip on Lake Windermere | | 7 Nov 2009 |  | | Your visit to the Lake District isn't complete without enjoying a summers day trip on one of the many boats across Lake Windermere to see the beautiful sights. Officially Lake Windermere is the largest Lake in the UK at approximately 10 miles long. Many boat trips are offered ranging from small 2 seater boats to larger passenger ferries and most of these trips originate at Bowness on Windermere. The ferry services visit Ambleside and Lakeside where you can visit the Aquarium of the Lakes approximately 40 minutes each way giving ample time to take in the scenery that the Lake District has to offer. You can also choose to return via the Haverthwaite steam railway. |
