Lake District Holidays
Located in the North West of England lies the beautiful English lake District considered by many to be one of the most beautiful parts of Europe and certainly England The National park covers 875 sq miles of the most amazing scenery and mountain ranges featuring around Lake Windermere, the longest fresh water lake in the UK, at over 10 miles long.

The main attraction of the area is the town of Bowness on Windermere, this with the village of Windermere, which indeed the lake is named after, is the main attraction for visitors who come to the Lake District and this is found where the ferry terminals are located which take you on varying site seeing trips of various duration along the lake.

Also found in Bowness on Windermere is the Beatrix Potter museum which is designated to the great author of the same name who saw the appeal of the Lake District for inspiration of many of the characters including Peter rabbit and Jemima Puddleduck. The 2006 film called Miss Potter, which was devoted to the author is located just a few miles away, you can visit the house at Hill Top where Beatrix lived which is now preserved by the English national trust.

The Lake district is very popular with tourist from the UK and overseas with many staying in hotels and self catering accommodation like a Lake District Holiday Cottage where you can truly appreciate the beauty of a holiday in the lakes staying in a traditional stone holiday cottage.

Local areas of interest in the National park include Ambleside, Grasmere where William Wordsworth the famous poet lived in Dove Cottage and also where the famous homemade Gingerbread shop is located. The Gingerbread shop has been there for hundreds of years and it has a top secret recipe kept in a vault.

You can also choose the visit the market town of Kendal which is famous for its mint cake and also Ulverston from where Stan Laurel was born of the Laurel and Hardy fame and the museum dedicated to them is located there.

If you choose not to sight see you could take in the beautiful countryside by walking and hiking in the area. Many local beauty spots can be appreciated this way.

We would like to welcome you to the lake District and to book one of our stunning Lake District Holiday Cottages located in the heart of Beatrix Potter country click on the link
